Heard of a startup competition? Well, the Next Challenge for Media & Journalism is a media startup competition and Future Tides is a finalist in the Future of Local Journalism division!

This award recognizes "an innovative startup serving a specific local or regional geography, filling a gap in existing local news services."

Our application laid out Future Tides' focus on the Pacific Northwest maritime community, how we prioritize community participation, our business plan, and the traction we've had so far. The gap Future Tides aims to fill also exists in many other port cities and water-centric regions.

The finalists are now prepping our pitches for the final round of judging, and there's funding at stake. Winners will be announced June 10. 🤞
